Entergy Texas to implement new plan that may increase rates

As Entergy Texas works to stay a “step ahead” of an anticipated surge in Southeast Texas’ power needs, customers likely will see their electricity bills rise.

The company’s recently announced Southeast Texas Energy Plan, also known as STEP Ahead, is necessary to meet a 40% increase in power generation demand expected by 2028, according to a news release.

Entergy Texas President and CEO Eli Viamontes said the goal of the six-step plan is to ensure reliable, affordable and sustainable power is available in the Southeast Texas region. But reaching that goal likely will include rate increases for customers.
